About me

My name is Preston and I am currently studying at the Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington. I developed my passion for cybersecurity, after my father’s medical workplace was hacked. Like many hospitals affected by cyber-intrusion, the clinic’s servers including the backup server, patient histories, and schedules were encrypted by ransomware. The hacking inspired me to research cybersecurity news and improve my own methods in security. I want to connect cybersecurity concepts with my other interests such as baseball and drone piloting.

In today's interconnected digital landscape, staying aware of cybersecurity news and threats has become an essential responsibility for individuals and organizations alike. Ever since the Covid 19 pandemic, technology has been advancing rapidly, as major corporations have transferred to working remotely. This development has opened up many unparalleled opportunities, but also unlocked many vulnerabilities for hackers to exploit. Being informed about the latest cybersecurity news/developments empowers people to take appropriate measures to protect their personal data and identity on the internet. I hope by reading my blog, individuals will be able to grasp basic cybersecurity knowledge helping them make more informed decisions online. Ultimately, awareness of cybersecurity news and threats is not just a personal matter; it’s a vital component of ensuring a secure and resilient digital society in today's world.
